Essay: "CHRISTMAS FOR SALE"

What did you expected when christmas is near? Many people said that it is all about the date when Jesus Christ was born. Perhaps, it is also the time of reunion for family. But sometimes they are celebrating the christmas because of their likes and happiness without valuing Jesus Christ. For them, christmas are just the time of accepting gifts to have parties that never respecting Jesus Christ. However, those things resulting form drinking alcohol that eventually cause of quarelling and some incident inside of family members. As time goes by, people celebrate christmas as a business. Yet, like the western countries the christmas day is one of the beautiful way of earning money for the fabrics, businessman, and all sectors of the company. They display all things infront of the stores related to christmas . Hearing music along the street that never heard before. All of them are the things we can see now.

In addition to that, we can already see a lots of alcohol cans and alcoholic people everywhere. For those countries that never celebrate christmas, they are now doing some things related to this like showing the picture of santa claus and displaying the christmas light. Nevertheless, they trying to be not different from the others. Then by thinking that other countries progressing their business because of this occassions they believe that similar for them will enhance their business too. For parents, they believe to be a rich people who's every needs of their children's will always given to them even if it is only their wants. Children brought many things related to christmas like toys, clothes, even uneccessary gadgets just to sufficient their happiness. In fact, it will result for making a business and all people thinking that christmas are just only a time for collecting money but the true essence of it will lost. How about you? Do you think christmas are just for money purposes or it is for remembering the only begotten son of God Jesus Christ? Your answer are depend for what are you doing now. No matter what we do, it's just so happen that christmas is the way of giving to others and having a sacrifice in your part.

On the other hand, now a days we live in a poor times that eventually we don't know how to survive for everyday's life. For this reason, poeple think that christmas was the time to make their lives progress. Sometimes, it is not reasonable what was our think to christmas as occassion that need to celebrate but to have more money. Way back before when the church and states having a  good relationships that later on they begin to seperated because of misunderstanding about christmas. However the state against by this but the church declared that all countries should celebrate it. Therefore, the state make christmas as an ordinary day. Actually, when we trying to look back from the history about christmas we certainly see different perspectives like the country of rome. They have to celebrate their god named Saturnalia and the date was exactly form our christmas occassion. this was happen because they believe it is lucky for them. The rome never admit to make their occassion different to others but instead they trying to make the same. Yet, it's up to us how we make the christmas is for sale or make it as an occassion for our love ones. It also depend on our motives.

Happy Thoughts

Tables and Chairs

Since i was a child,we eat together and no one starting to eat without a prayer. Every morning, my mom took a bible and starting to read a text. Afterwards, all of us give a brief explanation or insight about this. When lunch coming from, we also eat together. After eating,we do every task we had. My mom is the one who cook, my brother was taking a broom then clean the floor, my sister clean the table while i am the one who wash the dishes. We are organize in our home. However, during the dinner time everyone will have the opportunity to tell their problems that they encounter for the whole day. I can say that we are all happy when we talk about our own distressed and my parents give us the practical solutions they thought about.

Hindrances
Money
I consider the fact that money is the main reason why my parents give their time and attention from this. It was  started after my graduation in high school. Of course, I know that as time goes by when we grow up there's a lot of things we had and my parents afraid enough when they did not give what our needs. This are their obligations for us but because of this, they forgot the best important thing for us: time and attention that possible to give when we are eating together.

Television
Waiting our parents before eating was too tired that is why we spent our time watching movie. Sometimes we ate one by one even that's not the right time to eat.

Alcohol
I am not the one who drink alcohol but my father. He come to our house smelling bad. If my mom saw him, there was the time they fighting always. Saying bad words, throwing all things and sometimes doing physical abuse. From the morning, my father drink alcohol without eating breakfast. It was his vitamin until the evening.

Solutions
Prayer and Bible Reading
I always pray to Jehovah, our almighty God who created the heaven and earth because according to psalm 65:2 states that "He is the hearer of prayer". He also give us strength and holy spirit to maintain patience, love and other fruitful behaviors. Bible serves as the way of comforting us for our worries and distress. I read bible daily. So it help me to survive from every obstacles I may encountered in my life. So I encouraging you also to read your bible too.

Time Management
I have my organize schedule right now. So I manage my time very well. I'm not wasting my time for watching unnecessary movies. I spent more time for reading books and doing my assignments like what my siblings do.

Communication
It is very important thing to consider because communicating contribute a harmonious relationship to others especially in my family. I always talk to my mother what was my problem and listen for what she told me.I accept her advice and obeying it immediately. In fact, it is the great gift that God given us.She was my best friend and I love her so much.

ECED 13 Summary

It is very hard to the parents to accept that their child are having a behavioral problem. Although every child is different, and some children will struggle more with some problems than other children. If you are a parent, however, chances are you will have to deal with at least one or two of these problems as your child grows and matures. If your child has the irritable habit of throwing a tantrum every time you go to the supermarket, you are not alone. Often, these habits intensify simply because it is easier to give in to your child than to address the problem. How can you handle these tantrums? Probably the most important thing you should remember is that you should never give in to them. This may mean that you have to leave the store. Once you leave the store, however, don’t let your child’s behavior go without consequences. Once you get home, you will need to instill some sort of time-out or loss of privilege, depending on the age of your child. Let him know that he will not get any kind of response out of you until he changes his tone. Behavior problems can be overwhelming, but with firmness and consistency, parents can do a lot to manage their child's behavior.

Parents should decide what behaviors are going to be acceptable and what behavior will not be tolerated based on the age and development of the child. No rules often leads to chaos in the family and can leave long-lasting problems in the child. As parents, we cannot control our children, but we do have a vast amount of influence. Our real job is to help our children develop self control.

How do we do that?

  1. Time Outs.
There is a time and a place for using the time out strategy. I have found that time outs only escalate the temper tantrum and drag it out. They are largely ineffective for ending temper tantrums.
  2. Corporal Punishment.
I do not endorse spankings and slappings. Aside from legal consequences, they tend to have negative psychological consequences for the child. Keep your cool and do not hit or spank the child.
  3. Begging, Pleading, Negotiating, Bribes... Giving In.
This teaches the child that they can get what they want by throwing the tantrum or displaying bad behavior. They learn they can control you.
  4. Throwing your own mock tantrum.I'm talking about having a screaming contest with the child. It can be funny to watch - a grown up behaving like a child - maybe your child will be amused and pause their own. Seriously though - if it did in fact work, why are you looking for help?
  5. "Overnight-success" strategies. These can be very tempting - like ultra-fast weight loss pills. Sure, I too, have customers that report overnight success, but these are truly the exception, not the norm. Again - bad habits cannot be broken overnight.

Normal behavior in children depends on the child's age, personality, and physical and emotional development. A child's behavior may be a problem if it doesn't match the expectations of the family or if it is disruptive. Normal or "good" behavior is usually determined by whether it's socially, culturally and developmentally appropriate. Knowing what to expect from your child at each age will help you decide whether his or her behavior is normal.

Children normal behaviors depend on various natural and environmental circumstances in which a child grow and observes the way for his best possible conduct within his reach and interact amongst those who respond his gestures and body talks. Diffidently parents are the first to whom a child makes and develops his concerns regarding his needs and wants. Here we can simply say that normal behaviors developments required normal circumstances and equal participations of momtourage and dadtourage in bring up a child for exactly normal behaviors and positive attitudes with essence of real life realities to accept and cop with them.

    Sample Activities

    Planned learning experiences in
    curriculum content areas

Children benefit from a variety of regular group experiences in HighScope Preschool programs. These scheduled parts of the day include small-group time, large-group time, and transition times. At right are links to some sample activities for these times. These are intended as representative plans that adults can use as models as they develop their own group activities. As you are using the ideas in these samples, be sure to adapt them to the interests, developmental levels, and learning needs of the children in your group. The materials listed under "Related Products" are publications that contain additional small- and large-group activity plans.

Using group times to introduce new materials, activities, and concepts
Small- and large-group times for preschoolers each generally last about 15 minutes. During these times, adults introduce children to new materials, ideas, and activities, which the children can then continue to explore at work time. Group times also offer social opportunities to all children. These times are unpressured, so even children who tend to be shy or solitary are comfortable interacting with others.

Planning group times that expand children's growth and learning.
HighScope teachers put thought and effort into planning group times. They use their daily observations to see what children are interested in and how they can further their explorations in these areas. Group times are also the parts of the day when learning that needs to be systematic and sequenced — such as specific skills and concepts in literacy or mathematics — can be guaranteed for all children. Transitions are the times in between the other activities. In HighScope programs, transitions are not seen as incidental. Instead, these activities too are carefully planned to provide opportunities for children to make choices, move in different ways, and learn important concepts.

Active learning during teacher-planned group activities
During all these group activities, the principles of active participatory learning continue to apply. So, even though adults plan large- and small-group times around specific content, they base them on children’s wide-ranging interests, encourage children to make choices about how they use the materials, and talk with children about what they are doing and learning.

     I love Reading Books

It was a dawn day when the man trying to remember his childhood years. When his father read his favorite books with him before he died. Right now, he continuously like reading books because it is the way when he still remember his father. "Dad, I love you like what i feel from this books", as he remember right now. He was living now in America with his business library and having 50,000 books. He was not after for the money but he was read books as he wants. Way back before when he was a child he does not valuing any kind of it but just right on the pages and sometimes throw from the garbage. Now when he walk on the road and suddenly saw one picking the pages,he feel angry and hatred for himself. He see now the benefits of it in his life because of it,he won more competition in reading and now getting more information as he wrote a comprehensive writing. Taking an honored that he was have a father that does not only love him but the books that make him have a better future. From his country he then now encouraging somebody to value the books and love it, more than their lives.

    Negative Points:
Many people was just read books because of some incentives or assurance he can get like reading those pages for people he still remember or because they are having favorite tittles they love to read and not the whole content. Sad to say, many people was just throw the pages or sometimes burn it.

    Positive Points:
Books provide an information when someone read it. We can bring it when we are in the vehicles during the field trip and give relaxation for use or for enjoyment.

How can you relate yourself on the story that you wrote?
Reading books is one of my hobbies,I can make it as my pastime and because of it I learned more information that help me to make an essay and poems.

Identify your learning from the picture and the story. What is the message?
I therefore conclude, that reading books are not just giving information for enjoyment but then to sustain our hungry times for something we want to know. I learned from this picture and the story that as a teacher we have the responsibility to inculcate knowledge to our pupils.
